The Dangers of Micro Plastics

I often see images and articles highlighting the dangers of garbage towards marine creatures.
However, I did not take into consideration that discarded plastic eventually breaks down into tiny pieces called micro plastics. Micro plastics affect smaller marine creatures, such as lugworms, starfish, sea cucumbers, and crabs. When they feed on those tiny plastic fragments, the harmful chemicals used to make plastic will accumulate in their skin. Eventually, they get eaten by higher predators and the concentration of harmful chemicals only multiplies as it goes up the food chain.

This article certainly intensifies my negative opinions about plastic.
As it states, we have to reduce the amount of plastic waste and have better waste-handling practices.
